RUBIN MUSEUM OF ART
RMA Teen Program Application _________________________________________________ Work at a new museum with other teens from throughout New York City! Learn about Himalayan Art, and get paid to lead tours at RMA! Find out what goes on behind the scenes at a museum! And much much more! All you need is an open mind. What is RMA Teens? A year-long intensive program designed for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who are thinking about pursuing careers in the arts. Students meet weekly with RMA educators and other museum professionals to explore facets of the museum world through curator-led lectures, tours, museum field trips, group discussions and special projects. This training prepares students to lead exhibition tours, discussion groups, and workshops at RMA. Using resources within the museum – collection, staff, facility – the program fosters independent thinking and encourages a desire to learn and achieve success. After completing the training program, participants will receive a stipend of $6.00 for work services completed on an hourly basis in the museum. RMA Teens meets every Wednesday from 4-6pm from September through June, but applicants can join the program in the spring or fall. To join RMA Teens Applicants must be in high school and submit a completed application to: Emily Auchincloss RMA Teens Rubin Museum of Art 150 West 17th street New York, NY 10011 or fax to: 212/620-0628 WHEN WILL WE MEET? Participants will attend mandatory training sessions on Wednesdays from 4-6 pm at RMA. After completing the training program, RMA Teens will lead gallery visits on Saturday afternoons twice a month from 1-2pm. WHERE WILL WE MEET? RMA Teens will meet at the Rubin Museum of Art, located at 150 West 17th Street, between 6th and 7th avenues. Students will also take field trips to museums and galleries in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.
