n January, 2005, The American Forum for Global Education in New York City traveled to China with administrators and teachers from four New York City schools. Our goal was to establish a "sister-school" relationship with two Chinese schools in Shanghai and two Chinese schools in Nanjing. The initial interview with the Chinese schools was made during the summer of 2004 when these schools showed an interest in established an exchange program with NYC schools. During our January visit to each of the Chinese schools, agreements were signed between the principals and headmasters. On April 22, 2005, three students from each NYC school will travel to China for a one-week homestay at their "sister-school," hopefully the beginning of a more long-range program. It is hoped that the Chinese schools will be able to visit New York at the end of 2005 or early 2006. Each of the schools has pledged to continue this relationship.
The American Forum is eager to make additional sister-school arrangements. If you are interested, please contact Hazel Greenberg (212) 624 1300 X 340 or Yongling Lu (212) 624 1300 X 346. Our emails are hsg423@aol.com or ylu@globaled.org |
