Dear JSA members and friends, The JSA Board has discovered a problem with our online registrations for the 2012 conference at Taiko in Honolulu. We fear that some people who believe they registered on line by filling out the registration form and clicking "submit" were not in fact registered. The form did not make it to Treasurer Stacia Bensyl. We do not know why this happened and perhaps never will. Some would-be registrants realized the submit icon was not functioning for them and emailed a Board member about it, which is how we found out about the problem. It has nothing to do with the date people registered, but is due to something else, perhaps the way an individual's particular computer is configured for email and similar uses. The dilemma is that we know who successfully registered using the online process, but we do not know how many people (if any) believe they registered online but did not. The only solution we can think of is to have those who did not in fact register on line to submit their completed forms in hard copy to Treasurer Stacia Bensyl. This is not as onerous as it would be, because the registration fee also must be submitted using regular mail, so you can send them together. Those of you who intend to register, but have not yet, should register by dowloading the form into your word processor, fill it out using your keyboard, print it, and send it with your registration fee check to Stacia Bensyl. Alternatively, you may download and complete the form, save it as a file, and attach the file to an email to Stacia at bensyl@missouriwestern.edu The following people successfully registered either on line or by mailing in their forms, and do not need to do anything if the registration fee also is paid (the names below are from a database, explaining the odd vertical spacing in a couple of places): Boyd James Carter Nona Castro-Vasquez Genaro Charlton Sue Ellen Dickerson Vanessa GustaffsonKarl Ho Cynthia King Carmen Mamada Robert Mason Barbara Mayers Ozzie Nelson Peter Overton Joseph Palmer Jesse Parikh Manju Patton Cynthia Reichel Phillip Sakamoto Rumi Scott Susan Clare Stern Michael Takeda Masafumi Tierney Geraldine As of now, there are now about 40 presentations at the conference. Some presenters have already registered, as shown by your name on the list above. If your presentation is accepted but you have not yet registered, then you will not be able to register using the submit icon on the website, but must do so with an email attachment to Stacia or by a printed form that you submit with your registration fee. In brief, all future registrations can only be made by email attachment or printed form sent by mail. If you thought you had already registered on line but your name does not appear on the list above, you must also register with an email attachment or a hard copy mailed to Stacia Bensyl. We regret and apologize for the inconvenience. (We don't actually know who even whether anyone is inconvenienced, but we regret and apologize anyway!)
