Are you committed, kind, energetic, an effective communicator, and a good listener? Enthusiastic about working with children? Then we want YOU to become a volunteer educator and work with urban schools in unique program on the arts and cultures of China and Japan.

Along with local artists, you'll engage students in learning about the arts and cultures of China and Japan through classroom artist visits and interactive museum experiences. You'll work intensively with two to three classes through seven sessions in classrooms and the galleries, using the museum's phenomenal collections to teach students.

School Program: Elementary and junior high students from District of Columbia Public Schools. In-depth seven-session program over a semester or year.

Educator Training: We provide all the necessary training to make you successful. Intensive training in teaching methods, learning theory, and Chinese and Japanese art will take place during July and August. In September, volunteer educators will participate in practicum work and teaching will begin in October.

Availability: You must be available on weekdays and commit to a minimum of one year with the program.

A certificate will be issued upon completion of the program.
