This workshop engages teachers in a hands-on study of Pearl Harbor and provides direct experiences in the interpretation of the USS Arizona Memorial and the use of related archival sources. Importantly, since the history of Pearl Harbor is still a living history, participants will have the unique opportunity to experience this history "come alive" through oral histories of Pearl Harbor survivors, WWII-generation residents of Hawaii, and Japanese-Americans who spent the wartime years in internment camps. There is no fee for the workshop. Participants receive a $500 stipend to help cover travel/lodging expenses. Additional travel supplements to help defray travel cost will also be available.
